On November 17, 2022, construction of the second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty railway section began in the Karaganda region. The project is included in the National project "Strong regions - the driver of the country's development". The start of construction in the teleconference mode was given by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov. At the solemn ceremony on the occasion of the start of construction, which took place at the Balkhash-2 station, was attended by the leadership of the Akimat of the Karaganda region and JSC "NC" KTZ ", heads of structural divisions of the company, representatives of contractors and domestic enterprises, including our esteemed Advisor to the Chairman of the Board Isinamanov Boris Alexandrovich, and industry veterans.
The implementation of the project will help solve the important task set by the Head of State to ensure the uninterrupted export of domestic products and increase the country's transit potential.
In 2021, NC KTZ JSC reached record levels. According to the results of last year, the cargo turnover amounted to 239.3 billion tons-km, which is a historical maximum for 30 years of independence of Kazakhstan. The volume of container traffic exceeded 1 million TEU. In general, over the past five years, the volume of transit container traffic has increased by 4.4 times.
Today, the capacity of the railway infrastructure can become a constraint to the rapidly growing volumes of freight traffic. To eliminate bottlenecks, a decision was made to implement major infrastructure projects: the construction of the Dostyk-Moyynty, Bakhty-Ayagoz, Darbaza-Maktaaral railway lines, a bypass around Almaty, etc.
The construction of the second Dostyk-Moiynty line with a length of 836 km will increase the capacity of the section by 5 times (from 12 pairs of freight trains to 60 pairs per day). The issue of transportation of goods of Kazakh exporters in this direction will be positively resolved. During the construction of the second tracks, 419 artificial structures will be built (5 large bridges, 87 small and medium bridges, 288 culverts, 14 road overpasses), as well as energy, signaling and communications facilities.
The implementation of the project will give impetus to the development of small and medium-sized businesses. In construction, it is planned to use materials of domestic production (sleepers, rails, transformers, etc.). The share of local content will be over 80%. 3,700 builders will be involved. After putting the line into operation, 500 people will be provided with permanent jobs on the railway.
The cumulative effect of the project implementation will further increase budget revenues in the amount of 4.1 trillion tenge over 20 years. The construction is scheduled to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2025.
