Dosjan temir joly JSC and Japan’s RIKEN Kogyo Inc., with the participation of Sekisui Jushi Corporation and Tokyo Rockbox Almaty LLP, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing solutions to protect railway infrastructure from snowstorms and strong winds.
As part of this partnership, on October 13, a weather station was installed at the 27th kilometer of the Shar – Novo-Ust-Kamenogorsk section. The station records six wind parameters every 10 minutes. The collected data will serve as the foundation for designing a 100-meter experimental snow protection fence.
The signing of the memorandum marks a new stage of international cooperation, including:
▪ exchange of engineering expertise between Kazakhstan and Japan;
▪ aerodynamic tunnel testing based on real climate data;
▪ preparation of a technical solution project by March 2026.
The Japanese delegation included Mr. Yukihiro Shibao, President of RIKEN Kogyo Inc.; Mr. Nagaaki Miyoshi, Director of Sekisui Jushi Corporation; and representatives of Tokyo Rockbox Almaty LLP.
Technologies proven in the harsh climate of Hokkaido are now being tested under the conditions of Eastern Kazakhstan.
